The Florida Suncoast Chapter is proud to have been led by dedicated volunteer safety professionals since it's charter in 1991.  Listed below are those past presidents.  We would like to include a photo of each of those safety pros who gave so much of themselves to make this a great chapter.  If you have a photo (preferably a "headshot") of anyone listed below, please send it via e-mail to webmaster@swf-asse.org and we'll include it here on this page.

The Suncoast Chapter started as a Section in '83 or '84 as an offshoot of the West Florida Chapter.  The primary drivers for forming it were Bob McManus-VP of Loss Control for FCCI and Steve Looby-safety director for Tropicana.  Bob felt that Tampa was too far to go for most people for luncheon meetings but recognized the value of safety professionals meeting together.  The attenders were mostly LC people from FCCI along with safety reps/directors from Tropicana, Sarasota Herald Tribune, APAC, other insurance companies and retired safety professionals.  We met at night at a restaurant on 41 and had some very good speakers.  The section continued to grow over the years until large enough to reach chapter status and break away from West Florida.  For the last 11 years I've worked in Tampa, having moved my membership to West Florida a number of years ago.  Let me know what else you're interested in and I'll see what details I can provide.
